The most successful births and breeding programs in zoos and aquariums all over the world use Sea Tabs® for improved nutrition and increased sexual activity.

Sea Tabs

Two Sea Tabs® Formulations

Sea Tabs® vitamins come in two sizes and formulations: Original Sea Tabs® for larger marine animals (cetaceans and pinnipeds such as dolphins, whales, seals, etc.); and the second formulation for birds, turtles, fish and smaller-sized sharks.

See the tables below for specific details.

Which Vitamins Should Marine Animals Take?

If they were in the ocean eating live, fresh fish, of course, the answer would be none. There have been a dozen studies of vitamin requirements for marine animals such as dolphins, seals, killer whales, penguins and all kinds of ocean going and diving animals. The conclusion is that there is little scientific proof that free-range self-feeding marine animals need any vitamins added to their diet. However, in a captive environment where marine animals are eating frozen fish, which nutrients are missing? Studies have shown that captive animals become deficient in vitamins such as A, D, E, B1, as well as others.

Sea Tabs® provide these key nutrients for optimal health of your marine animals.

Who Uses Sea Tabs®?

Since 1965, Sea Tabs® have been used in marine animal facilities, including many major parks and zoological institutions. Indeed, all the successful major breeding programs for killer whales, dolphins, seals and penguins in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe have used Sea Tabs®. They will all tell you they had their most famous and successful birthings or hatchings while using Sea Tabs® as their vitamin source.

Improvements In The Formula

Although Sea Tabs® have undergone changes to improve their vitamin content and vitamin utilization over the years, Sea Tabs® have always been on the cutting edge of the most current information regarding sea animals. Today's formulations reflect this fact.

Proper Dosage

Most of the larger and more successful programs are based on body weight. This guarantees that animals will be receiving the proper dose of vitamins even if they are not getting a full complement of fish each day. However, their supplementation can be given by body weight or by food intake, whichever your veterinarian prescribes. We always recommend consulting your veterinarian before making any decision that could affect your marine animals.
